In the shadow of the industrial harbor – the fishing place Klintehamn Fiskeläge
Like all Fiskeläge on Gotland, the Klintehamn Fiskeläge has its history. Already in the Middle Ages, there was a lively exchange of goods in the old port of Klintehamn. And even then the fishermen offered the so important food base. Anyone who knows the soils in the area knows how almost impossible it is today to grow food here. So also in this place the coastal inhabitants of the fishery devoted themselves.
They needed small boats, the right tools and durable clothing. But that had to be stored and so they built the small huts of Klintehamn Fiskeläge. As in the other Fiskeläge on Gotland, here in the Klintehamn Fiskeläge the catch on the edge of the narrow harbor basin has been processed immediately.
Today, the old harbor area, where the Klintehamn Fiskeläge is located, is separated by a pedestrian bridge. The fishermen have their big trawlers today, but the old fishermen’s huts of the Klintehamn Fiskeläge have remained.
Anglers and recreational fishermen are at home here today in the Klintehamn Fiskeläge, but they lovingly look after the historic huts of the Klintehamn Fiskeläge, which are legendary on Gotland.
This is now interrupted by a pedestrian bridge for higher ships and the professional fishermen go out today with real cutters. But these legendary and historic fishing huts have remained, but are now more of the leisure and the hobby-related fishing.
They are lovingly cared for and decorated with small everyday objects of fishermen. Whether rusty lanterns or old Netzte, they remind of the old time, in which it was anything but romantic, from this place out in storm and waves and come back with full nets.
The recordings of the Fiskeläge Klintehamn on Gotland were created analogously with the Leica M Elmarit 2.8 28 asph. on Kodak Ektar.
